Ben Espy's Positions and Views on These Issues:

A candidate must possess the qualifications and judicial temperament while demonstrating a lifetime commitment to serving the citizens of Ohio. A good judicial temperament includes the art of listening, respect, knowledge, and patience. However, a good judicial temperament is not a passive quality. It is an informed, respectful interactive endeavor, with advocates and with colleagues on the bench. I believe I possess those qualities that would be beneficial to the Ohio Supreme Court. It has been said that I have a quiet but powerful demeanor; that others stop and listen when I speak. This, in part, is because I approach each situation thoughtfully, listening to all sides before carefully choosing my words. I do not speak for the sake of speaking nor do I tolerate mediocrity. I strive for excellence in my work and expect the same from my colleagues. These qualities are the very qualities that I bring to my practice every day, that have led to my effectiveness as an elected official and that will serve me well on the Ohio Supreme Court. |
